History of the College

The College is administered by the Sisters of the Society of Jesus, Mary and Joseph, a Registered Body. It is a Catholic Christian Minority Institution opened for the purpose of imparting education for Catholic / Christian Women. Yet the college is open to other denominations as well.

The college has its humble begining with the upgrading of St Joseph’s High School intoHigher Secondary School in 1969. It had the Affiliation for one section in Sciences and one section in Humanities. With the encouragement of people of the locality another section inSciences was opened in 1980 with english as the medium of instruction. In 1981 two more groups in humanities were introduced i.,e (CEC &MEC Telugu Medium). In 1988 another section in Humanities with two groups MEC & CEC was opened with english as the medium of instruction. From the Accademic year1995-96 HEC (EM) was introduced.

The Higher Secondary School Has expanded with the introduction of Under Graduate Courses during the Accademic year 2010-11 with B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Com Computer Applications, BZC (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry) and B.B.M Groups one section each. It has the affiliation from Rayalaseema University, Kurnool .

The Management has its own resources for the college building, equipping laboratories, and hostel building. It is needless to say that the tone of the institution depends on the teaching faulty. Regular assignments, tests, & examinations are conducted. Equal importance is also given to the co-curricular activities. The students belonging to economically backward, scheduled caste, scheduled tribe & minority category enjoy scholarships.

From 2017, the college has introduced PG Courses (1. M. Com General, 2. M. Sc. Zoology). These courses will be introduced from the academic year 2017-18.

The college will be completing its 50 years of golden noble services. The golden jubilee will be celebrated in 2019.
